Client Brief
Client called contractor PBF Drainage to carry out adoption CCTV surveying to enable handover of existing drainage to highways for adoption.
CCTV surveying results showed multiple defects within approx. 34 road gully’s out of a total of 159 surveyed. The defects included fractures, open joints, incorrect host pipe material, holes and cracks.
A fast efficient long lasting repair to all defective runs. Including single access from road gully’s.
Solutions
Bluelight had been used previously to repair road gully’s and it was suggested to the client due to its fast curing speeds up to 60m/hr, zero Styrene and zero odours. The repair method had to have a minimum 50 year life expectancy and also be WRC approved.
Bluelight has the ability, to negotiate multiple bends, diameter changes, and be installed from a single entry (blind shot), all materials are WRC certified and the system is WRC certified, with a minimum of 50 year life expectancy. Bluelight met all criteria for this project.
Site difficulties
Working on a public road on a newly built housing estate a small site footprint was required. Limited access to the road gullies with narrow openings meant a very small installation area was available. The road gully’s had a 150mm outlet which immediately reduced to 100mm. Multiple 90°bends were present in 75% of the drainage and so a highly flexible lining material was required.
Due to the number of repairs required a fast curing product was required, along with single access installations.
Outcome
34 Road gully’s varying in lengths from 2m – 14m were all full length lined with zero failures, all signed off by the client within 5 days. This included high pressure jetting, full length lining, pre and post cctv surveying.
